Premature Ejaculation: The act of sexual intercourse between a man and a woman is the very basis of perpetuality of human life on the earth. Sexual intimacy is not just a simple act of precreation, it most importantly makes a man and woman taste the highest form of pleasure and satisfaction. All in all, it is mother of all arts. When any aspect of this act is out of sorts, the condition is called sexual dysfunction. Premature ejaculation is one such sexual dysfunction. Premature ejaculation by definition means early ejaculation. It’s the condition when a man ejaculates within two minutes of insertion or ejaculates while doing courtship or foreplay or even before the insertion of penis into vagina. Premature ejaculation not only causes embarrassment for the male partner but also does away with the pleasure for the male and female partner both. Women in general reaches orgasm late in the act of reproduction and if the man discharges early she never reaches orgasm and feels unsatisfied and disenchanted.
Premature Ejaculation In Ayurveda: It is called sheeghrapatan, which literally means ‘to fall early’, which in turn means ‘to discharge early’. Ayurveda puts a lot of emphasis on how to maintain a normal married life. Charak Samhita has a dedicated chapter, Vajikaran Chikitsa’ as the second chapter of ChikitsaSthanam for the discussion of ailments of reproductive system.

Known Causes of Premature Ejaculation
Ayurveda mentions shukrgata vata (शुक्रगत वात ) as the cause of premature ejaculation (sheeghrpatan), which in turn can be fulminated by:
- Stress
- Performance Anxiety
- Dysfunction of neurotransmitters that mediate pleasure pathway
- Oversensitivity of penile skin
- Muscular weakness and general debility.
Treatment of Premature Ejaculation in Ayurveda
Many herbs and formulations (yogas) have been mentioned in Chikitsasthan of Charaksamhita under the chapter of Vajikaran Chikitsa or Vrishya Chikitsa.
Most important herbs used in Vajikaran yogas (aphrodisiac formulations) are:

Kamini Vidravan Ras
This formulation is one of the best classical formulations available for premature ejaculation. It is mentioned in Bhaishajya Ratnavali’s Veerya Stambhan Prakaran. It contains Jaiphal, Javitri, Kesar, Akarkara, Lavang, Pippali and many other herbs and minerals along with Ahiphena (Papaver somniferum).
Bangeshvar Ras
Bangeshwar Ras is another Ayurvedic formulation that helps best in the management of premature ejaculation. It contains Vang Bhasm (tin), Abhrak Bhasm, Gold Bahsm, Rajat Bhasm, Shudh Gandhak. Its indiscriminate use may pose a serious health threat and must be used under supervision of a qualified Ayurvedic doctor.
Himalaya’s Confido Tablets
This is Himalaya’s patented formulation and has been found effective is chronic and acute premature ejaculation. It is available in form of tablets and contains Salab Misri (Salam Panja), Taalmakhana, Gokhru and Sarpgandha and many other herbs. Charak’s Neo Tablets

Majoon Arad Khurma

Arad means fruit of date palm and contains date palm fruits, gum arabic, water chestnut, chilgoza, almonds, Taranjabeen Manna, Pumbadana etc.
